Obituary
Judith Bennett, 85, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2024. A service in her memory was held on Friday, November 1st and she was laid to rest on Saturday, November 2nd at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Missouri. A further memorial will be held on November 23rd at St. Thomas the Apostle Orthodox Church, 4200 S. Holiday Avenue, Springfield, Missouri at 10:00 AM.
Judith was a beloved, active member of St. Thomas parish, serving for many years on the Parish Council, in the choir, and in the Greek Festival, as well as in many other roles.
Judith was a gifted artist, painting, sketching, and sculpting many of the pieces in her home. She had a great interest in herbal and natural remedies and in various fiber arts, especially knitting and weaving.
She is survived by her children and their spouses—Ryan Bozis (Kathleen), Carrie (Bozis) Sears (Tim), Ellen (Bozis) Trush (Mark), and Sarah Bennett (Caleb Whitfield); her grandchildren and their spouses—Kate (Trush) Russell (Garrett) and Dianne (Trush) Castan (Ken); her great-grandchildren Hailey Russell and Lincoln Castan; her sister Agnes “Braley” (Schultz) Heckelman; a cousin, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her mother and father, Florence and Vernie Schultz; her sisters Diane (Schultz) Elliott and Lucy (Schultz) Desgrey; and her nephews Eric and William “Billy” Engelhard.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Isabel’s House in Springfield, Missouri.
