Our Mission

Garrett Hurd, Funeral Director
Garrett Hurd is a third-generation funeral director and embalmer, continuing a family tradition of service that spans decades in Illinois. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Drury University and an Associate degree in Mortuary Science from Arkansas State University Mountain Home.
After relocating to southwest Missouri, Garrett worked with several local funeral homes before establishing Southwest Cremation in 2024. His approach combines professional expertise with straightforward, transparent service — ensuring families receive dignified care without unnecessary complexity or cost.
Garrett and his wife, a native of Branson, are raising their three children in Springfield. He serves as Vice President of the parish council at St. Thomas the Apostle Orthodox Church, and remains actively involved in the community he calls home.
