Obituary
Daniel was born September 22, 1946 in Stokesdale, Guilford County, North Carolina to Herbert Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Lawrence. He was a healthy, rambunctious, rowdy, mischievous boy who created a titanium bond with his three brothers and two sisters. That bond was sustained and nurtured throughout his life; never has one existed that was stronger than that of these six siblings.
Daniel was a child of nature. He never felt more at peace than when he was immersed in it. He lived his life paying homage to his Mother Earth and her beauty, opting to live off her offerings, and rejected that which he felt detracted from or marred her.
Daniel served briefly in the US Navy, joining in 1966. He took a young bride that same year. Daniel’s creed in life was ‘multiply and replenish the earth’; he did not disappoint. He and his lovely wife brought 13 children into the world, teaching them to live off of and respect the earth’s bounty.
Daniel’s passion was creating music. His guitar-playing ability rivaled any and his singing voice was an absolute joy to experience.
Daniel waved goodbye to his earthly trappings on November 9, 2024 and returned to his Heavenly Home and the open arms waiting there to greet him. He was 78, having lived a long and rewarding life.
He was preceded in death by a stillborn brother, both parents, brother Lester Wayne, brother Thomas Arnold, daughter Patience Ann, son Trinity Franklin, son Benjamen Franklin, granddaughter Christine Maretta Thompson, and niece Martha Donna Crockett.
He leaves behind brother William Joseph ‘Dub’ Lawrence, sister Virginia Fay Bennett, sister Mary Ann Brannock, as well as numerous friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved and admired him.
His living legacy includes 10 children: Cortney Ann Evenson, Netashe Ann Schutte, Charity Ann Lawrence, Hope Ann Mullins, Faith Ann Hagston, Wil Franklin Lawrence, Molly Ann Campbell, Westi Ann Davis, Chena Ann Till, Jubal Franklin Lawrence; 50 grandchildren; and nearly 40 great-grandchildren. He started something that cannot be stopped!
Go rest high on that mountain. Your work on earth is through. Go to heaven a-shoutin’!
